Ideas and Logos

I started by mocking up some ideas and logos in Adobe InDesign, trying different effects and styles.
First of all, I came up with this design for the website banner:

I believed that this showed that the website will deal with music business, due to the mixing desks behind the word. I carried out a small dose of primary research to see who thought the logo looked good, where only 3 out of 10 people said it did.
I didn't really like the font style either, so I quickly decided to change the logo and think of something else.
Below is the second idea for my logo:

I think that the yellow stands out a lot more than the purple, and also the 'Impact' font is very bold, so it stands out vividly, but is still very easy to read.
The first logo above has a purple colour that does stand out to a certain extent, and the font would make you go "that's interesting, I wonder what it's about!". However as the font is very flamboyant and curly, it's hard to read from a distance, whereas the bottom logo is a lot easier to read, especially from a distance as it is the type of logo that can be made huge while still looking good.

The one downside I can think about the bottom logo is that it is a little bit plain. Although in defence, that is why I added the vertical 'studio and live sound engineers' above it. This acts as a short description, sort of looks like a sound level meter (which links with what the website will be about), and generally makes the logo more interesting.

UPDATE: I saved this post as a draft so I could go and ask the same people, plus others, what they thought of my new logo.
All of the people I showed before said this one looked much more professional, and all but one of the others I asked said that they really liked it.
The one that didn't brought up and interesting point, which was already on my mind. I will explain that now.

It's not a major point, but I may be caught out on it. In the vertical text I have written 'engineers'. I was advised, and already had in my mind, to change this to 'engineering'. This is because 'engineering' advertises the business, whereas 'engineers' advertises the people themselves. I want to advertise as a business service, possible trademarking the logo in the future, not advertising as a person.
